CHOOSING YOUR SECTION ACTIVITIES

Kid Climbing Wall

Volunteering

Physical

Skills

For each of your DofE sections, you need to choose an activity. Remember – you own your DofE programme and have the freedom to choose activities that are specific and relevant to you.

Your activities will need to be agreed with your Hexnet leader, and you will also need to consider the time commitments and costs involved with the activities.

At least one hour each week needs to be spent on each activity, for the duration of your award level requirement. And you need to be able to provide evidence of completing your activities as well as someone to act as an assessor for each section.

COMPLETING SECTIONS

EVIDENCE

As you go along completing your activities for each of the sections, you will need to collect evidence. This could be in the form of photos or videos.

ACTIVITY LOG

You will need to record what you did, when you did it and how long you did it for, each time you work towards your sections. This can be input into the blank logs we have for you here.

ASSESSOR REPORT

An Assessor checks on your progress and agrees the completion of a section of your programme. They must be independent and over the age of 18. Therefore, they cannot be a member of your family. You will also need a different assessor for each section.

At the end of your time completing your section activities, your assessor will need to write a short report about your progress during the activity.

For Gold only!

RESIDENTIAL

The residential section is only required for when you are doing Kings/Gold level.

You need to undertake a shared activity or specific course with people you don’t know, in a residential setting away from home and in an unfamiliar environment.

Your activity can be anything that provides you with an opportunity for broadening your interests and experiences. It is ideal for trying something new or it can be related to existing interests or activities followed in other sections of your DofE programme.

It's also worth noting that if your residential is a Scouting event, such as crew for a jamboree camp, it can also count towards your nights away for your awards.

To ensure that it meets the DofE requirements, your chosen residential must be approved by Simon Maltby & Emily Hodder beforehand. To do this, please complete the approval form and email it to HexneteDofE@gmail.com & emily.hodder@syscouts.org.uk
